Porting Process Addition – Dealer-Owned Numbers / Remote Call Forwarding (RCF)

During the porting discovery process, confirm with the customer whether any dealers or branches own their own telephone numbers and currently forward those numbers to the central station using Remote Call Forwarding (RCF) or a similar forwarding arrangement.

Discussion Point for Customer:

  • Do any dealers have independently owned telephone numbers that are forwarded to the central station?
  • If yes, identify which numbers are using RCF or carrier-based call forwarding.

Important Consideration:
Any RCF/forwarded numbers must be reviewed and addressed prior to porting. Failure to account for these forwarding arrangements can result in signaling and call routing issues after the port occurs, potentially impacting alarm traffic and service continuity.

Action Item:
Document all dealer-owned forwarded numbers and develop a migration plan for those services before the porting project proceeds.
