2.1 Upgrade - Steps to Prep Workstations

To prep the workstations, we will need to point them to the new Distributer server. They will still be fully functional with the old system till the time of the failover.

To register the workstations with the new server, please do the following on each workstation:

  • Right-click on the Manitou workstation icon and go to the properties
  • At the end of the target field, change the parameters to say: -s<CURRENT PRODUCTION MANITOU SERVER> -b<CURRENT BACKUP SERVER> -b<NEW MANITOU SERVER> -b<NEW BACKUP SERVER>
  • Right-click on the Manitou supervisor icon and go to properties.
  • At the end of the target field, change the parameters to say: -s<CURRENT PRODUCTION MANITOU SERVER> -b<CURRENT BACKUP SERVER> -b<NEW MANITOU SERVER> -b<NEW BACKUP SERVER>
  • Then go into the registry and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> WOW6432node -> Bold Technologies -> Manitou -> Distributer.
  • In the window on the right, change the clientname1 parameter to the hostname of the new server that has the Distributer Commander installed.
  • Restart the Bold Distributer service.
  • Try pinging the new Distributer Server by name to see that it communicates successfully.

For .NET Framework 4.8, you can simply download the installer at this URL:

  • After running the installer, it may prompt to reboot the computer.
  • After this reboot, you can verify .NET 4.8 was installed by going into the registry and navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> NET Framework Setup -> NDP-> v4 -> Full
  • The "Version" parameter should now be 4.8.*
