There are a handful of source systems that commonly appear in data conversions. The differences between our systems and the legacy systems can be the cause of several errors when doing data conversions. Below is a list of source systems and a rough summary of how the mapping of these systems is started.
- Sedona Office – Our own Sedona Office database is a common source for merges.
- Typically, a Sedona to Sedona merge is the most straight forward, but it is very important to meet with the customer to make sure the new company business practices are properly mapped to the company doing the merge. Usually an application consultant will assist with this prior to the merge.
- Alternatively, the acquired company can be added as a separate company on the same server. In this case all that is needed is for both companies to be on the same version.
- Rarely a customer will want to move from Sedona Office to Alarm Biller or Managely. There are scripts in the data conversion team file for the most common way of importing to these systems.
- Alarm Biller – Alarm Biller is commonly used as a source for customers who want to upgrade to Sedona Office or Managely
- For Sedona Office there are scripts in the data conversion team file that has a common mapping for customers wanting to upgrade. Since Sedona tends to have more features that customers want to use, they may have a separate spreadsheet to add the data necessary for those features.
- Alarm Biller to managely upgrades are more of a schema change – See the process for managely conversions.
- Microkey – Microkey is the most common source system outside of our own.
- The biggest issue with the data is that it needs to be extracted from SQL Anywhere using a script that creates CSVs.
- Customers in Microkey are called subscribers, and sites are located in the subscriber listing table.
- There are scripts in the data conversion team file that has a common mapping for microkey to Sedona or microkey to alarmbiller/managely.
- Quickbooks – Quickbooks is commonly used by smaller customers and alongside Alarm Biller.
- The biggest issue with quickbooks is the fact that it does not have a direct mapping to sites. Many customers will want to merge their individual customers in quick books to customers with sites or master customers with subaccounts.
