SIMS III Receiver Server Installation and Setup

Pre-Requisites:

  • All Windows Updates installed on computer
  • Microsoft .net 4.7 or higher installed
  • Automatic Windows updates disabled

Installation Instructions:

**Computer needs to be logged in as an Administrator**

  1. Transfer SIMS III Receiver executable to destination computer (SIMSRcv3.exe).
  2. Right click on SIMSRcv3.exe and Run As Administrator.
  3. Installer will load and InstallShield Wizard will launch:
  1. Click Next to get to the License Agreement section:
  1. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next to get to the Ready to Install the Program section:
  1. Click Install to install the SIMS III Receiver files. Once the files have installed, then the InstallShield Wizard Completed section launches:
Click Finish to close installer.

Setup Information

  • Make sure product is updated using Live Update before continuing
  • If SIMS III for Windows is set up on the machine, then the database information will pull from the Settings.xml file for SIMS III
  • Configuration:
    • Configure>Global Setup>
      • Misc: Make sure Perform Housekeeping is enabled (this allows SIMS to perform the SIMS generated events, such as LTC, LTO, URS, OUS, etc)
      • Notification: Alert if Holding Over: (increase this number depending on how many accounts the customer has)
      • Log: Set logging so that the Raw Data and any errors will be written to the Receiver Log
      • Email: This will be pulled from the Settings.xml file from SIMS III for Windows
      • SMS: If the customer elects to use an online SMS messaging service (i.e. ZipWhip, Clickatell, etc), then that information is inputted into this section
    • Port Setup::
      • Serial - click on Add, Choose the Receiver Type (if the receiver is not listed, then choose a receiver that uses the same protocol (i.e. Surgard System III), enter the Com Port, Baud Rate, Stop and Parity information
      • IP - Click on Add, Choose the Receiver Type (if the receiver is not listed then choose a receiver that uses the same protocol (i.e. Surgard System III), enter the IP Address, Port and change the Type (TCP/UDP), if need be
      • For IP receivers, if it should be a "listener", then it can be changed to TCP Socket or TCP Server via XML Config button at the bottom of the screen
