Alarm.com Integration with Bold Media Gateway\Universal Connector

The sample XML/JSON strings shown below were used to create the data mapping

Svc: TCP/UDP Message Received (10.171.56.9) : <?xml version="1.0"?><Packet ID="117067" SDNIS="8080"><Signal EvType="SIA" Event="OP"><Area>1</Area><User>1</User></Signal></Packet>

Create the Connector
  • Expand the MediaGateway > Administration > Universal Connector nodes
  • Click on Connector, enter the password and click OK
  • Click the Add button, the Add a new PBX Server dialog box will display.
    • Connector Type: select TCP from the dropdown list
    • Connector Device Name: enter a descriptive name
    • Click OK
    • In the Begin Message field you need to input the following: <?xml version="1.0"?>
    • In the End Message field you need to input the following: </Packet>

Below is an example of the Connector settings, the Port # may be different – speak with the installer that configured your Alarm.com system

  • Select File > Save


Create the Data Mapping
  • Expand the MediaGateway > Administration > Universal Connector node
  • Click on Data Mapping, enter the password and click OK.
  • Click Add, the Add New Field Set dialog displays.
  • Name: enter a descriptive name
  • Click OK.

  • Select File > Save


Create the Menu
  • Select Menu Items
  • Right click Menu configurations
  • Click Add
  • Input UCSEND in the code field
  • Input UCSEND in the description
  • Select Universal Connector for the Type
  • Select UCSendSignal from the menu on the right and drag it to the UCSEND on the left.
  • It should look like the following screenshot:

  • Select File > Save


Create the Line Driver
  • Within the MediaGateway > Administration node
  • Click on Line Drivers, enter the password and click OK.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the list to locate the row that begins with an ‘*’
  • Line Driver: select the ‘Connector’ created in step A
  • Description: enter an appropriate description
  • Status: ‘green’ - enabled, ‘grey’ - disabled
  • Line Function: select Universal Connector from the list
  • Properties: right click, choose Properties – the Function Properties dialog box opens
    • Name:
    • Field Set: Select your Data map
    • Receiver: select the MGW receiver
    • Line: Not needed unless the customer requests it.
    • Menu: Select UCSEND
    • Lookup: Not needed

  • Select File > Save
  • Select File > Re-Load & Restart all Devices
    • The Status lights should both be ‘green’
  • Have the customer send in a test signal and make sure it gets to the FEP.
  • Verify the signal shows up in the Raw Data.
