Lenel Access Control Gateway Installation Procedure

Prerequisites

The following required components must be in place before the installation of the Access Control Gateway module:

  • Manitou 1.6.1
  • Patch 44
  • Machine installed with a certified version of Lenel (OnGuard)

Installation

Confirm that you can access the Lenel server before beginning the installation process.

Lenel Server Setup

  1. From the Lenel server, run the AccessControlGateway Setup file.
  2. Next, navigate to the Manitou folder on the Lenel server, and complete the following steps to update the AccessControlGateway.exe.config.
    1. Change the Broker IP address to the Primary Manitou Broker IP address.
    2. Under <drivers>, change the driverType name to onguard.
    3. Confirm that the changes you made match the following screenshot, and click Save.
  3. Next, navigate to the Manitou folder and find the AccessControlGatewayDriver folder within.  Complete the following steps to update the OnGuardDriver.config file.
    1. Change the FEPHostname to the IP address of the server running the FEP.
    2. If necessary, change the FEP Port number.   Note: The FEP Port number is the port used for the Receiver FEP Driver Port.
    3. Change the <Logger Hostname> to the IP address of the machine running the logger.
    4. Confirm that the changes you made match the following screenshot, and click Save
  4. Open the OnGuard System Management Console, and ensure the following services display as Started as shown in the following screenshot. If they do not display as Started, click Start at the right end of the line containing the name of the service.
    • LS Communication Server
    • LS Config Download Service
    • LS DataConduIT Message Queue Server
    • LS DataConduIT Service
    • LS Linkeage Server
    • LS Login Driver 

Supervisor Workstation Setup

Complete the following steps to set up the Supervisor Workstation in Manitou:

  1. Complete the following steps to add the Lenel server and Access Control Gateway to the configuration:
    1. Open a Supervisor Workstation in Manitou.
    2. Navigate to the Maintenance tab, and select Setup and Configuration.
    3. Click Edit.
    4. Navigate to the tree on the left of your screen, and click Servers, then Add.
    5. Enter the Lenel server name and IP address, and click OK.
    6. Navigate to the tree on the left of your screen, click Applications under the name of the Lenel server, and then Add.
    7. Select App Type Number 49 Access Control Gateway, and click OK.
    8. Navigate to the Application screen, and select the primary Manitou server in the Logger field as shown in the following screenshot:
    9. Click Save.
    10. Repeat steps b - I for each system you must configure.
  2. Next, complete the following steps to create a Lenel Receiver Type:
    1. From a Manitou Supervisor Workstation, navigate to the Maintenance tab and select Setup>Receiver Types.
    2. Click Edit, and then Add.
    3. In the CODE line, enter LENEL.
    4. In the Name field, enter the name of the Lenel receiver and click OK.
    5. Navigate to the Receiver Types settings and select BOLD XML.
    6. Navigate to the Options settings and enter DEBUG=1,MODEL=1.
    7. Confirm that the changes you made match the following screenshot and click Save
  3. Next, complete the following steps to add a receiver to the FEPs:
    1. Complete a default account for the receiver in Manitou.
    2. From a Manitou Supervisor Workstation, navigate to the Maintenance tab, select Setup>Receiver, and click Edit.
    3. Select the FEP name and then click AddResult: the Add Receiver dialog displays as shown in the following screenshot: 
    4. In the Receiver Type drop-down list, select LENEL.
    5. in the Description field, enter LENEL.
    6. Set a receiver number in the Starting Number field and click OKResult: the Receivers screen displays as shown in the following screenshot: 
    7. From the PortType drop-down list box, select TCP/IP (In).
    8. In the Host IP field, enter the IP address of the Manitou server or localhost.
    9. In the Port Number field, enter the port number entered in the OnGuardDriver.config file.
    10. From the Default Receiver Line Prefix drop-down list box, select a default receiver line prefix.
    11. From the Default Designation for Unknown Signals drop-down list box, select a default designation for unknown signals.
    12. Click Save.
    13. Repeat Steps B - I to add additional FEPs.

Testing the Setup

Perform the following steps to test the setup:

  1. Open the MSM.
  2. Find the Access Control Gateway and right-click on it.  Result: the Access Control Gateway displays green.
  3. Open the FEP Commander and make sure the new receiver displays.
  4. Send a test signal to the Lenel software and confirm that it shows in the Raw Data Log for Manitou.

Linking an Account to Lenel

Perform the following steps to link a Manitou account to Lenel:

  1. Create a new account in Manitou or open the account you want to link to Lenel.
  2. Add a new Access Control System or click on the system name of an existing account.
  3. Click the magnifying glass icon at the end of the line for the Access Control Gateway as shown in the following screenshot (a list of server displays): 
  4. Select the Lenel system and click Save.

Troubleshooting

Starting Multiple Access Control Gateways (ACGs)

Error:  Unable to connect to WMI (root\OnGuard).

If this error was received, do the following:

  1. Create a user account in the Lenel database.
  2. Link the NT resource account created for it.
  3. Set up the ACG service to run using the same account.
  4. Check all the permissions on the Bold Tech folders and files.  If any are set to Read-only, clear the setting.

NOTE: Sensor information is received from Lenel, for example, 8-1.  The first number represents the reader address and the second number is either auxiliary input 1 or 2.  But, 8 does not necessarily represent the 8th possible physical reader position on the board - it represents the order in which the reader was programmed on the panel.  So, to determine the program zones with two or more physical ports assigned, a test will have to be run to see what data comes back from Lenel to determine address assignments.
