SQL server may need to be restarted to clear memory caches, address potential memory leaks, apply configuration changes that require a restart, or to potentially improve performance by freeing up system resources after a long period of continuous operation
This is how to restart the SQL server:
- Right-click on the primary SQL DB – red arrow below
- Click on the option that reads Restart
- SQL server will restart usually take less than 2 minutes or less.
