How to restart SQL server (Internal)

SQL server may need to be restarted to clear memory caches, address potential memory leaks, apply configuration changes that require a restart, or to potentially improve performance by freeing up system resources after a long period of continuous operation

This is how to restart the SQL server:

  • Right-click on the primary SQL DB – red arrow below
  • Click on the option that reads Restart
  • SQL server will restart usually take less than 2 minutes or less.
