SedonaSync Update

Obtain an updated version license from

Don Farber - Farber@vineyardsoft.com

Vineyardsoft Licensing Group license@vineyardsoft.com

Or from Laurie if adjusting # of clients or type (actions and reports/enterprise webcaster), version# and Server name changes can be requested from VineyardSoft directly as there's no change in charge to us.

Make a backup of the SedonaSync\Data folder (this should not be touched by the uninstall/reinstall steps below, but is a precautionary step to keep their settings)

Uninstall SedonaSync

Install the new version of SedonaSync to the exact same directory as the old installation

Replace the Data folder with the backup

Launch one of the SedonaSync modules, you should get an invalid license error when it comes up. This will prompt for the updated license. Simply put the new license information in and the module should start.

Close the SedonaSync module you opened and start the SedonaSync service (Services->SedonaSync->Start this service)

If you get a 1053 service could not start in a timely manner error, check the Windows application event log first, it may provide a simpler solution like you forgot to apply the new license. Otherwise, rename system.mdw to system_OLD.mdw and replace with the default from VineyardSoft:

You'll need to re-register the shared SedonaOffice controls if Sync is on the same server as their SO server

Open Event Manager, verify the events are still loaded in, and still have the ODBC connection configured on the application groups. This should be kept from the Data folder backup, but is the easiest test that everything stayed in place with the update.

If you want to be thorough, I would also check the Administrator module and verify the email account is still intact.
