PSIM Floorplans

Overview

We have completely overhauled the existing Manitou floorplans. Both in the edit mode and in alarm handling. This is to make them much more consistent and repeatable as well as more intuitive user controls.

Customer Plan Edit

Adding Plans

Navigate under customer to plan page. Plans can be added through the ‘+’ button on the card labeled ‘Plans’. We assume that in these instances, a single plan correlates to a single building (with floors being added later in Layer creation). The only necessary piece of information to create a Plan is a description of it.

Setting GPS Coordinates

In the lower left-hand of the pop-up for Plan creation/editing, there is a button for ‘Edit Coordinates’. Clicking on this will load a map if you have GPS maps integrated. If you have GPS location services, it will load on the address set on the customer, otherwise it will load globally.

A polygon can be created to represent the physical location of the Plan building. The points of the polygon can be dragged around to edit the polygon as needed. Once the polygon is set, clicking apply changes will put them on the plan to be saved with the customer object.

Clicking ‘restart coordinates’ will wipe the polygon from the map to start again. If you already have a saved polygon that you are editing, clicking ‘reset coordinates’ will revert to the previous saved data.

Cancel changes will not set any changes to be made to be saved with the customer.

Adding Layers

Layers can be added to a Plan after you have a Plan created. There will be a ‘+’ button on the card labeled ‘Layers’ once you have a plan. We assume in these instances, these layers are in the same physical location as the Plan, but represent different floors.

Restrictions and Suggested Sizes

Images for a plan layer must be .png or .jp(e)g; any other format will be rejected for upload. We do recommend using a larger image and will warn on uploads of less than 1920x1080, but we will not prevent using that image.

Navigating Plan Layer Canvas

Once you have added or selected a plan layer, the image will appear in the largest card on the customer edit, which is our plan layer canvas. At the top of this card, we label it with a description of the plan and a description of the layer. The grey canvas will now display the image that was uploaded. On this, components can be added and will be displayed.

  • Re-position Plan Layer Image: The image can be re-positioned around the canvas. You can do this by clicking and holding, and then dragging your mouse. We also allow keyboard shortcuts in the form of your arrow keys. While the image can be re-positioned, we will never allow it to be completely off-screen.
  • Zoom In/Zoom Out: The image can be zoomed in or zoomed out on. You can do this by scrolling the wheel up to make it larger, or through your keyboard shortcut (Shift+"+"). You can zoom out with scroll wheel down or through your keyboard shortcut (Shift+"-"). When it reaches 100% displayed in the canvas, we will no longer zoom out.
  • Filter: In the right-hand side of the plan layer canvas, there is a box of filters that are displayed as a list of check-boxes followed by labels. Any of these check-boxes can be unchecked, and we will no longer display that type of component on the plan while you are in this edit, but we do not remove them.

Plan Components

Once you have added a plan and a layer, then you will have a list of components that you can add to your layer, in the card to the right of the Plan/Layer column. Each of these plan component sections can be expanded by clicking on them to see what is available to be added. Some items, such as system areas and zones, customer devices, video routes, and fields of view (which is related to the view of a device) rely on data being on the customer and saved already.

Anything that is already on a plan has a bookmark icon on it that can be clicked; clicking on this bookmark will take you to the plan and layer that it appears on, and it will flash the component on the display. If it’s already used on a plan layer and cannot be used again, it will be grayed out and disabled. If it can be used, you can drag and drop it from the list onto the plan layer image.

Adding/Editing Polygons (Areas/Fields of View/Sectors/Customer Links)

Once you have drag and dropped an area onto a plan, you will have your starting point. To form the polygon, you will need to left-click to create each point of your polygon. Once you have finished, a right-click will automatically close the polygon to your starting point. Once an area is on a plan and you have finished drawing, you can right-click it for a context menu. In this context menu, on edit, you will have the following:

  • The label, which can be changed
  • System information
  • Re-draw: clicking this will let you re-draw your area. Your cursor will have a starting point under it, that you can place where you want to start with a left-click. The polygon should then be drawn in the same way, with each subsequent left-click placing a point of the polygon and the right-click finishing it.
  • Change Style: This will bring you to a pop-up where you can change the fill of the polygon (the pattern it appears as) and the default color of the area. The colors can be expanded into further choices with an arrow on the right hand side of the color row.
  • Change Label: This is what appears as the label for this component on the first line of this context menu; we will default this to the area description.
  • Remove: This will delete the component from the plan, to be saved when you save the customer.

A Note On Customer Links

When adding a customer link, the component starts not with a point, but with a pop-up. This pop-up is where you will set which customer, under the same cluster (dealer), that this area will link to. That customer will need a plan and layer to be set, and optionally, an area. Once this information is set and you click done, everything else will follow the same documentation of adding a polygon.

Adding/Editing Icons (Zones/Devices/Plan Links/Compass)

Once you have drag and dropped a device or zone onto a plan, we will draw a default icon related to the component on the plan layer image. From this component, you can right-click it for a context menu. In this context menu, on edit, you will have the following:

  • The label, which can be changed
  • System information
  • Connect (if applicable): Connect can be used through this context menu, or if there is a connect, it can be done with a left-click on the component. If a device has connection info, we will launch the VCC to connect to the device. For a plan link component, we will take you to the plan layer that it links to.
  • Reference Image (if applicable): If a reference image has been saved on the device, we will launch it in a new browser tab.
  • Edit: clicking this will put you into an edit state for this component, indicated by a grey edit frame around the component. Right-clicking anywhere on the plan layer image will take you out of this state, as well as saving the customer or navigating away from plans. In one corner, a rotation icon can be clicked and held, and when you drag your mouse, we will rotate the component. In the opposite corner, there is a scale box that can also be clicked and held, where dragging your mouse will either scale the icon bigger or smaller depending on the direction of your mouse movements. Clicking and holding anywhere within the edit frame of the component will allow you to drag and reposition the component itself on the plan layer image.

  • Change Icon: This will bring you to a pop-up where you can change the icon of the component. Depending on the type of component, you will have an array of icons to choose at the top of the dialog, that can be scrolled through. Beneath that, you can change the color of the icon. The colors can be expanded into further choices with an arrow on the right hand side of the color row.

  • Change Label: This is what appears as the label for this component on the first line of this context menu; we will default this to the zone/device description.
  • Remove: This will delete the component from the plan, to be saved when you save the customer.

A compass is a modified version of plan icons that only has one icon, so you cannot change it's default icon. It also does not have system information. It's label is defaulted simply to 'Compass'.

Adding/Editing Labels

Once you have drag and dropped a label onto a plan layer, we will draw a default label that will simply say 'New Label'. This should be changed soon after in the right-click context menu In this context menu, on edit, you will have the following:

  • The label, which can be changed

  • Change Label: This will bring you to a pop-up where you can change the label that appears on the plan layer image. Beneath the label field, you can also change the color of the label. The colors can be expanded into further choices with an arrow on the right hand side of the color row.
  • Remove: This will delete the component from the plan, to be saved when you save the customer.

Adding/Editing Video Routes

Once you have dragged and dropped a video route onto a plan, you will have your starting point. To form the route, you will need to left-click to create each point of your route. Once you have finished, a right-click will automatically end your route at the point that you right-clicked. Once a route is on a plan and you have finished drawing, you can right-click it for a context menu. In this context menu, on edit, you will have the following:

  • The label, which can be changed
  • System information
  • Connect (if applicable): Connect can be used through this context menu, or if there is a connect, it can be done with a left-click on the component. If the route device has connection info, we will launch the VCC to connect to the device.
  • Reference Image (if applicable): If a reference image has been saved on the route, we will launch it in a new browser tab.
  • Re-draw: Clicking this will let you re-draw your route. Your cursor will have a starting point under it, that you can place where you want to start with a left-click. The route should then be drawn in the same way, with each subsequent left-click placing a point of the route and the right-click finishing it with one last point added.
  • Change Style: This will bring you to a pop-up where you can change the default color of the route. The colors can be expanded into further choices with an arrow on the right-hand side of the color row.
  • Change Label: This is what appears as the label for this component on the first line of this context menu; we will default this to the route description.
  • Remove: This will delete the component from the plan, to be saved when you save the customer.
