Intended Purpose
We were asked to add a new option to interpret a DMP System Message (S16) in a different way from what the standard interpretation has been. This was formerly just sent through as a *T trouble similar to many other S codes.
The issue is that UL is saying that the customer MUST handle this as a *A alarm signal and we are sending in a *T trouble signal.
16 WARNING: Panel Not RespondingHIGH LINE COMMUNICATION SECURITY FEATUREThe receiver detects that the supervised account (high security) has failed to communicate within its proper timewindow. This message is only sent when the panel's main communication is set for MPX, DNET, HST, or NET. MPX(multiplex) is a supervised direct wire connection and DNET, HST, NET is packet data network communications suchas Ethernet or long range radio. When the DMP option INTSYSMSG=1 is turned on, we interpret all system messages and send them through. Several could end up just as *T and there is no way to add programming to change just the S16 one into something else. It IS possible to have all system messages come through as *A with Zone of Sxx but they would have to add programming for all system messages. This was not acceptable.
Description of Change
In Manitou 2.0.0 Update 24, we have added a new DMP option to allow just the S16 to be sent in such a way that programming can be applied to it. The option is INTS16ZONE=1 and MUST be used with the INTSYSMSG=1 option for this to work.
Once this is set up, you can then apply programming as the S16 will now be sent in still as a *T but with a Zone of S016. This can be changed to a *A or any other event code desired. It is possible to keep the zone or change it as well.
