SedonaOffice Database Removal/Cleanup

SedonaOffice Database Removal

Clearing out Databases or Sandboxes is done via SSMS as there is no SedonaOffice tool for database management, only for Refreshing/Creating Sandboxes. Your IT will need to ensure they are logging in to the server with a user that has sysadmin access in SQL to perform the necessary actions. The best practice is to ensure that all databases are backed up either in cloud or cold storage in accordance with your company's data retention policy prior to removal.

For any Sandbox/Unused databases that are not referenced in the company table of the SedonaMaster database [This means they do not appear in the drop-down when opening the SedonaOffice Client], you can simply remove the database from SQL Server Management Studio.

Sandbox/Unused databases that are referenced in the company table of the SedonaMaster database [visible when logging into the Client], you will need to remove the line that references that db from the Company table within SedonaMaster. Backup the SedonaMaster DB prior to any changes. After showing the Top 200 of the company table, to clear the db from the SedonaOffice drop-down, right-click on the leftmost horizontal line of that company or sandbox and delete it in SSMS. Then you can remove the database from SSMS, ensuring users will not encounter errors logging in to the SedonaOffice Client that would have had access to those databases.

Additionally, other known databases that are in use with known integrations that are not referenced in SedonaMaster and should not be removed unless you can confirm the integration is no longer in use.
